Asian Games: League of Legends: Schedule and more details

Esports will be included in the Asian Games programming for the first time as a medal event. Seven games, including League of Legends, Dota 2, Street Fighter V, and FIFA Online 4, will be played in official contests. (Hearthstone was initially on the list but was later taken off after Blizzard Entertainment and its Chinese publishing partner NetEase failed to reach an agreement.)

As the thrilling LCK vs. LPL rivalry is revived, many League of Legends fans are already daydreaming of a Korea versus China final. When esports was still simply a showcase sport at the 2018 Asian Games, China won the League of Legends competition by defeating South Korea 3-1 in the championship match.

League of Legends Schedule

From September 25 to September 29, there will be a League of Legends competition. The Hangzhou Esports Centre, a cutting-edge arena with seating for more than 4,000 spectators, was chosen as the location for the esports championship.

Teams will play each other twice in BO1 games in four round-robin groups. The single-elimination playoffs, where each game is a BO3 series, will come after the group stage.

League of Legends squads

24 national teams have confirmed their participation in the League of Legends competition so far. Notably, a combination of athletes from T1, JD Gaming, and Gen.G will represent South Korea, with famed coach Kim ‘kkOma’ Jeong-gyun in charge.

Meanwhile, members of JD Gaming, Bilibili Gaming, and EDward Gaming will make up the Chinese delegation. Zhu ‘KenZhu’ Kai, who won MSI 2022 with Royal Never Give Up and was a member of EDG’s coaching staff throughout their 2021 Worlds-winning run, will be the team’s head coach.
