England vs New Zealand: Pitch Report
The Old Trafford track is very favourable to batters. Due to the turn and bounce on offer, spinners might also receive a little assistance. Batters can take advantage of the boundary’s low dimensions to rack up big scores. The average first innings total is 170, therefore teams that win the toss may decide to chase.
England vs New Zealand: Fantasy Team
Wicketkeepers
Jos Buttler: Jos Buttler makes it into the team despite not getting a chance to bat in the first innings. It will be a risky option to make him the captain or vice-captain considering that he might not get a chance to bat in a star-studded English batting lineup.
Devon Conway: Devon Conway had a rare failure in the previous game. He was unable to score as he only managed to make three runs in eight balls before being dismissed. It is rare when a batter of his quality fails twice in a row.
Batters
Dawid Malan: Dawid Malan is an exception in this English batting lineup. While all the other batters play with a high strike rate approach, Malan plays the anchor role and is pretty consistent with that role.
Harry Brook: Unlike Malan, Harry Brook does not understand the meaning of anchor. Brook only knows one way to play and that is decimating the opposition’s bowlers. His knock in the previous game is an example of his style of play.
Glenn Phillips: The lone warrior from New Zealand’s batting lineup from the previous game makes it into our fantasy team.
All-rounders
Liam Livingstone (C): Liam Livingstone bowled his full quota of four overs in the last game and picked up a wicket as well. On a surface that assists, spinners, Livingstone’s bowling gets even more important. In the previous game, he batted for only four balls and even in those four balls, he smashed a six. If he gets a longer stay at the crease in this game he can help in making a lot of points.
Moeen Ali (VC): Moeen Ali, another spin-bowling all-rounder gets into our team. In the last game, he bowled just two overs and took a wicket. He did not get a chance to bat but on a ground where the boundary size is relatively smaller, he can be a good pick for the vice-captain role.
Mitchell Santner: Mitchell Santner is a great pick on a pitch assisting spin. After a poor outing in the previous game, he will be expected to bounce back and be among the wickets.
Bowlers
Adil Rashid: Adil Rashid is a quality spinner and will be a handful on a pitch assisting spin.
Ish Sodhi: Ish Sodhi despite bowling just two overs picked up a wicket in the previous game. The tall leg-spinner is someone who can take some wickets of the English batters who will be looking to take on the bowlers.
Brydon Carse: After impressing many fans and experts in the previous game, Brydon Carse made it into our fantasy team as the lone fast bowler. Carse was the reason behind England restricting the visitors to a low total last game.
