Ever heard of Jack Off? No, not that. This card game—also called Sequence, One-eyed Jack, or Jack Foolery—is perfect for 2 to 4 players. In teams or solo, the goal is simple: be the first to line up 5 chips in a row. Let’s break it down.
Getting Started: Setting Up the Game
Before the fun begins, you’ll need a few supplies:
Chips:
- 2 or 4 players? Each team gets 50 chips in their color.
- 3 players? Each gets 40 chips in unique colors.
The Board:
- Got the sequence game? You’re all set.
- Making your own? Here’s how:
- Take a deck of 52 cards (remove the Jacks).
- Cut two squares from each card (opposite corners).
- Use 100 squares to create a grid. Stick them onto something sturdy—like cardboard.
- Place jokers in the 4 corners of the board. The rest? Arrange however you like.
Done? Great. Now shuffle up!
Dealing the Cards
Dealing depends on how many players you have:
- 2 or 4 players: Everyone gets 5 cards.
- 3 players: Each gets 6 cards.
- The rest of the cards form a draw pile in the center. Ready to play?
How To Play Jack Off
The rules? Simple. The fun? Unlimited.
- Your turn: Play a card from your hand. Place a chip on a matching spot on the board.
- Draw a card: Always replenish your hand by taking the top card from the draw pile.
Special cards? Oh, yes!
- Red Jacks: Wild cards. Place a chip anywhere on the board.
- Black Jacks: Mean cards. Remove an opponent’s chip.
Winning the Game
The objective? Get 5 chips in a row—vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. Sounds easy, right?
- 2 or 4 players: You’ll need two rows of 5 chips. These can intersect.
- 3 players: Just one row of 5 wins it.
The first player or team to hit their goal? Victory is yours!
