LPL Split 2 2025: Format, Groups And MSI Path

LPL Split 2 2025: The LPL has had a tough 12 months, especially after Esports’ disappointing overall performance initially. The team struggled towards Korean powerhouse HLE and fell behind the LEC and LCS groups. Now, the focal point shifts to improving consequences at the imminent Mid-Season Invitational (MSI). However, first, the league needs to decide on its two representatives via LPL cut-up 2, a good way to keep the use of the Fearless Draft device at some stage in the 12 months.

LPL Split 2 2025 Format

With the new three-split structure, the LPL has adjusted its format to fit the tighter schedule. Here’s how it works:

  • The 16 teams are divided into four seeding pools based on their Split 1 performance.
  • These teams are then placed into four groups, each with four teams.
  • A double round-robin (Bo1) takes place within each group.
  • The top two teams from each group move to Group Ascend.
  • The third-place teams go to the Last Chance Promotion stage.
  • The fourth-place teams are placed in Group Nirvana.

Last Chance Promotion Stage

The four teams in this stage will play in a double-elimination bracket using the Hard Fearless Draft. In this system, champions can only be picked once per series. Side selection for game one will be determined by a 1v1 match. The two winning teams will advance to Group Ascend, while the losing teams drop to Group Nirvana.

Regular Split

Once the groups are set, the main competition begins:

  • The top 10 teams (Group Ascend) play a double round-robin Bo3.
  • The bottom six teams (Group Nirvana) play a single round-robin Bo3.
  • The top four teams from Group Ascend will go directly to the playoffs.
  • The other six from Group Ascend will join the top two from Group Nirvana for the playoff play-in stage.

Elimination Threat

The bottom two teams from Group Nirvana will be eliminated from the LPL, meaning their season ends early, leaving them without official matches for the rest of the year.
