North Korea Wants to Build a Casino

This article discusses North Korea’s desire to build a casino in order to boost its economy.

North Korea has a really tall building in its capital city, Pyongyang. It’s called the Ryugyong Hotel and it’s been under construction for a very long time. It’s so tall that it looks like a rocket!

People call it the Hotel of Doom because it has been so slow to finish. The country started building it way back in 1987 but it is still not done.

Why did it stop? Well, North Korea got a lot of money from Russia a long time ago. But then Russia did not give them money anymore and North Korea had a really hard time with food. So they had to stop building the hotel.

Now, North Korea wants to finish the hotel and make it a fancy place with a casino. They think a casino will bring in money from other countries. Whoever finishes building the inside of the hotel can run the casino.

It was a big risk but it could be a big reward too. North Korea hopes that a casino will encourage more people to visit their country and help their economy.
