South Africa vs Australia: Fantasy Team for today’s match
Australia’s tour of South Africa’s 2nd T20I will be played at Kingsmead, Durban. Here is the preview, pitch report and fantasy team for the match.
On September 1 at the Kingsmead in Durban, the second Twenty20 International match of the Australia Tour of South Africa would pit South Africa (SA) against Australia (AUS). In the first game, both teams had a large number of youthful players, but Australia controlled the game and won it handily. South Africa would be expected to rally in the following game to tie the series.
South Africa vs Australia: Preview
South Africa won the toss and decided to field in the previous encounter between the two sides, which was contested at the same location. This choice never turned out to be the right one straight away. Australia lost Travis Head early on, but they were unaffected and continued on to the slaughter. Australia was well-positioned for a strong total because of some fantastic shots from Mitchell Marsh and Matthew Short, who also formed a match-defining partnership with Tim David. By the end of the innings, the duo helped Australia in scoring a magnificent 226 runs.
South Africa needed to get off to a strong start in order to chase down such a large total, but they were unable to do so. Early on, they lost Temba Bavuma, but Rassie and Hendricks made an effort to form a strong team. However, when the partnership fell apart, it was the beginning of the end for them as they continued to lose wickets one after another. Only three players were able to reach double figures, and ultimately the side was bowled out for a meagre 115 runs, with Australia winning the match by an impressive margin of 111 runs.

South Africa vs Australia: Pitch Report
The pitch at Kingsmead in Durban will be beneficial to both bowlers and batters. Particularly pacers could enjoy some seam and swing, which could cause issues for the batsmen. After a few balls have been placed on the ground, they are free to play their shots. The average score in the first innings for teams that win the toss is 147.
South Africa vs Australia: Fantasy Team
Wicketkeeper
Josh Inglis: Slight competition for the wicketkeeper spot helps Josh Inglis to make it into our fantasy team.
Batters
Reeza Hendricks: Reeza Hendricks was the top scorer for the hosts in the previous game. While chasing 226, the opener scored a half-century.
Rassie van der-Dussen: Despite his short stay of 11 balls on the crease, Rassie van der-Dussen showed signs of high striking. The South African number three batter scored 21 runs in just 11 balls consisting of two sixes and two fours.
Tim David: Tim David showed his brute power in the previous when he scored 64 runs in just 28 balls. He is still a risky pick considering he bats lower down the order and there are chance that he might not get a chance to bat.
All-rounders
Mitchell Marsh (C): Mitchell Marsh shone on his captaincy debut in the previous game as he remained not out after scoring 92 runs in 49 balls. His knock consisting of 13 fours and two sixes makes him a perfect candidate for captaincy in our fantasy team.
Marcus Stoinis (VC): Fellow Australian all-rounder, Marcus Stoinis will serve as the deputy to Marsh in our fantasy team. After failing with the bat in hand in the first innings, Stoinis opened the bowling and even took three wickets.
Marco Jansen: Despite being expensive with the ball in hand, Marco Jansen took a wicket and scored a crucial 20 runs (from a fantasy point of view) lower down the order.
Aiden Markram: After a poor first game, Aiden Markram will look to bounce back and would look to lead from the front.
Bowlers
Tanveer Sangha: After an impressive debut, Tanveer Sangha makes it into our team as the lone spinner. Sangha took four wickets on debut and will look to continue the impressive start to his international career.
Spencer Johnson: Another Australian debutant from the previous game makes it into our team. Spencer Johnson picked up two wickets in the game including the important wicket of Reeza Hendricks.
Lizaad Williams: Lizaad Williams was one of the better performers in an overall poor South African bowling line-up. He took three of the six Australian wickets.
