If you also like fun games that also educate you a little in the process, BLURBLE might be the one for you! BLURBLE is an educational, fast-paced word card game designed for 4 to 8 players aged 8 and up. The game has 348 cards featuring various objects, and players compete in one-on-one challenges to quickly say a legal English word starting with the same first letter as the object shown on a flipped card.
What You Need To Play BLURBLE
- Objective of BLURBLE: Be the first to blurt out a legal word and win the card to score points.
- Number of players: 4 to 8 Players
- What you need: 348 cards, a rulebook, and a sheet for educational exercises.
- Type of game: Educational Card Game
- Audience: Ages 8 and Up
Setting Up The Game
- Shuffle the 348 cards and place the deck face down in the center of the play area.
- Choose a player to be the “Blurber,” aka the person who flips the cards.
- The Blurber places a small stack of cards between themselves and the player to their left, who will be their opponent for the first race.
How To Play BLURBLE
- The Blurber flips the top card from the stack face down on the table without looking at the image.
- Then the Blurber flips the card face up to reveal an object.
- The Blurber and the player to their left race to blurt out a legal English word that starts with the same first letter as the object shown on the card.
- The first player to say a valid word wins the card and scores a point.
- Other players act as referees to judge who spoke first and if the word is legal.
- Illegal words include acronyms, proper nouns, words containing the name of the object (e.g., “firefly” if the object is fire), numbers, and words not in English.
- If both players say an illegal word or it’s unclear who spoke first, the card is discarded, and a new card is flipped.
- Wrong words do not disqualify a player; the race to win BLURBLE continues until a legal word is said.
How To End The Game
- BLURBLE ends when every player has had the chance to be the Blurber twice (or once if there are 7-8 players).
- Scores are tallied by counting the cards each player has won.
- The player with the most cards (points) wins.
- Alternatively, players can set custom victory conditions such as playing until a specific number of cards are won, playing for a set time, or playing through the entire deck.
Strategies To Win BLURBLE

- Practice quick thinking and fast verbal responses to blurt out words before your opponent.
