What You Need To Play Mamma Mia
- Objective: To deliver the most pizzas.
- Number of players: 2-5 Players
- Materials: 1 Mamma Mia Card, 40 Different Orders, 65 Ingredient Cards, and Instructions.
- Type of game: Hand Management Card Game
- Age: 10+
Setting Up The Game
Determine the number of players and remove the ingredient cards based on player count.
- 2 players: remove 5 of each ingredient
- 3 players: remove 3 of each ingredient
- 4 players: remove 1 of each ingredient
- Place these removed cards back in the box.
- Shuffle the remaining cards.
- Give 6 ingredient cards to each player at the start.
- Shuffle the rest of the ingredient cards together with the Mamma Mia! card and place them face down in the center as the supply pile.
- Each player will collect 8 order cards with matching backs, shuffle them, and place them face down as their “waiter” pile in front of them.
- Each player draws the top order card from their waiter pile and add to the hand.
- Place the over next to the supply pile, this is where ingredients and other cards will be played.
- The group chooses the starting player, and play proceeds clockwise.
How To Play Mamma Mia
- On a player’s turn, they must place at least one ingredient card from their hand into the oven (discard pile) face up.
- They may place more than one ingredient card, but all must be of the same type.
- The player announced the number and type of ingredient cards placed in the oven.
- After placing cards, the player must place one order card from their hand face up in the oven, but only if they think the ingredients are enough to fulfill the order without checking.
- The player then draws cards to refill their hand to seven, choosing either from the supply or their waiter pile.
- If there are not enough cards in the chosen pile, the player will draw as many as possible, playing with fewer cards until their next turn.
- Play proceeds clockwise.
How To End The Game
- The round ends when all supply cards have been drawn. The player with the Mamma Mia card takes all cards from the oven, places them face down, and reveals them one by one.
- For each order card revealed, check if the required ingredients are present among the revealed ingredient cards.
- If all ingredients are present, the pizza is baked and added to a player’s delivery.
- If ingredients are missing, the players may supplement from their hand to complete.
- If they’re unable to do so, the order is returned to their waiter pile.
- Unused ingredients remain for the next round, and used ones are shuffled to forma new supply.
Who Wins The Game?
The game comes to an end when the oven is empty and all the pizzas have been delivered for the third time. The player who delivers the most pizzas wins Mamma Mia!
