LinkedIn to Add Gaming Feature for Job Seekers, Making Job Searching More Interactive
LinkedIn plans to introduce puzzle games for users to play while searching for jobs, aiming to add enjoyment to the platform and stimulate conversations.
LinkedIn is among the most widely used platforms for job seekers worldwide. Renowned for simplifying the job search process and seamlessly connecting recruiters with candidates, it has become a staple tool for millions.
However, job hunting can often be a tiresome endeavour, involving extensive scrolling, data entry, and networking efforts. Recognising this challenge, LinkedIn aims to inject a sense of enjoyment into the process.
According to a recent report, LinkedIn is considering integrating gaming into the job-searching experience. That’s correct – soon, users might have the option to play games while browsing for employment opportunities on the platform.
As reported by TechCrunch, LinkedIn is exploring the expansion into gaming. The company is said to be working on puzzle games such as Queens, Inference, and Crossclimb, drawing inspiration from the immensely popular Wordle puzzle game, which was acquired by The New York Times in 2022 and gained widespread popularity.

Researchers have uncovered evidence of LinkedIn’s foray into gaming, including features that tie player scores to their workplaces. A spokesperson for LinkedIn confirmed the gaming initiative while speaking to TechCrunch, although they did not specify a launch date. According to the spokesperson, these puzzle games are intended to enhance enjoyment on the platform, foster stronger relationships, and encourage conversations.
A researcher also discussed LinkedIn’s gaming initiative on X.
“LinkedIn is developing in-app games! There will be several different games, and companies will be ranked based on their employees’ scores! I think it’s pretty cool and fun,” read his tweet.
LinkedIn, owned by Microsoft, isn’t the sole social media platform to incorporate gaming into its offerings. Many other websites, such as Meta’s Facebook, already feature in-app games to entertain their users.
Microsoft, with its strong presence in gaming as the parent company of Xbox, raises questions about its potential involvement in LinkedIn’s gaming endeavours. However, the company’s spokesperson has yet to comment on this matter. It will be intriguing to observe how things unfold in the future.

In October of last year, LinkedIn announced the dismissal of over 600 employees. In a blog post addressing the layoffs, the company described talent changes as “difficult, but necessary” for business management. The announcement outlined the termination of 668 roles across the engineering, product, talent, and finance teams.
“Talent changes are a challenging yet essential and routine aspect of managing our business. The adjustments we communicated to our team today will lead to a reduction of approximately 668 positions across our engineering, product, talent, and finance teams,” stated the blog post.
