How are the cards and setup?
A standard 52-card deck is used in King Albert game. First shuffle the cards properly.
How to make a tableau:
You have to make 9 columns.
- 1 card in the 1st column, 2 cards in the 2nd column, 3 cards in the 3rd like this till 9 cards in the 9th column.
- All cards should be face up that is, all should be visible.
Reserve Cards:
- Out of the total 52 cards, the last 7 cards are saved.
- These 7 cards have to be kept in a separate row they are called reserve cards.
- These cards are also face up, but are not replaced after being used once.
How to Play the Game
When the setup is ready, you can start the game. Your goal is to move the cards to the foundations according to their suit.
How to make moves?
- You can move the top cards of the tableau (which are visible).
- Cards have to be placed in descending order and in alternate colors.
Example:
If the top card in a pile is 9 of Spades (black), then you can only place 8 of Hearts (red) or 8 of Diamonds (red) above it.
Foundation Rule:
- Whenever you see an Ace of any suit, you can move it to the foundation.
- Cards are added to the foundation in ascending order after Ace, 2, then 3 and finally to the King.
- The top card from the foundation can also be moved back to the table if necessary.
Reserve Rule:
The 7 reserve cards can also be moved to the table.
But remember the reserve card does not come back after being used, its place remains empty.
