For the second year in a row, the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup (MCS) is one of the biggest attractions at the Esports World Cup 2025. The tournament has gathered hundreds of players from around 20 countries, all competing at the top level.
One Last Chance to Shine at Esports World Cup 2025:
The MCS at EWC 2025 is not just about winning a trophy. For many teams, it’s their final chance to earn international respect. It all started with the wildcard round, which ran from July 10 to July 12. This was a last shot for teams trying to break into the main event.
Eight teams fought through a tough elimination round where only one team could move forward. Team Falcons were knocked out early, losing their chance to earn important championship points. Japan’s Zeta Division also couldn’t gain momentum and exited the competition quickly.
In the end, Virtus.pro came out on top, narrowly beating Rare Atom to take the last open spot in the main tournament.
Surprises and Strong Comebacks:
After a short break, the Group Stage began. Sixteen teams were divided into two groups, each trying to secure a spot in the next round. Team Spirit stood out by winning all of their matches in Group B. They finished 9th to 12th last year, but this time they seem much more focused.
No other team managed to stay unbeaten. Even some of the top teams lost games. Still, SRG.OG and ONIC Philippines delivered strong performances. SRG.OG made a comeback after falling into the lower bracket and fought their way back to the top eight. ONIC Philippines also bounced back after losing to Aurora Türkiye. They won four matches in a row and head into the next stage with great momentum.
At the end of the Group Stage, only eight teams were left. Some strong teams, including Virtus.pro, didn’t make it through.
Teams to Keep an Eye On:
The knockout stage starts on Wednesday, July 30. This is expected to be the most exciting part of the tournament. With three million dollars in prize money, every team will be giving it their all.
Team Spirit:
This Russian team hasn’t lost a single match so far. However, they haven’t played against the toughest teams yet. Sunset Lover and his teammates will need to step up if they want to stay unbeaten.
SRG.OG:
The 2024 Esports World Cup champions are back in form. The team, made up of Malaysian and Filipino players, will face RRQ Hoshi next. If they win, they will play against Team Spirit.
ONIC:
ONIC has two strong rosters, one from the Philippines and one from Indonesia. Both are in the knockout stage on opposite sides of the bracket. Either team could go far, and there’s even a chance both might make the finals.
With top players, huge prize money, and everything on the line, the ML:BB Mid Season Cup at EWC 2025 is set to be one of the most thrilling tournaments of the year. The knockout stage kicks off July 30, so make sure to catch all the action.
