In Nioh 3, Masters are special opponents that players can challenge for practice and rewards. These fights are not just for fun. They also count toward achievements and trophies in the game. If you want full completion, you need to find and defeat every Master available.
Some Masters cannot be reached early because of Spirit Veins. These paths require specific Guardian Spirits, which you unlock as you progress through the main story and defeat major bosses. Once you get the required spirits, more Masters become accessible.
Below is a simple guide to help you find all the Masters in the Heian era.
Nioh 3 Kamo Village Master Location
Recommended Level: Around 57
To reach this Master, you first need to complete a side myth called Follow the Soldier’s Shadow. After finishing it, travel to the Funaokayama Shrine.
From the shrine, move north and climb over the stacked boxes. Take the path on your right side until you reach a temple gate. Look to the right again to find a Spirit Vein. This path will take you up to a building where the Master waits.
This fight is manageable if your level is close to the recommendation. Focus on timing your blocks and avoid rushing attacks.
Nioh 3 Nishiichi Master Location
Recommended Level: Around 66
Start from the Driftwood Fortress Shrine in Nishiichi. Move southwest toward the flooded houses area. Near a Sudama spirit, you will see a Spirit Vein. Use it to cross over.
After reaching the other side, climb the hill and speak with the Master to begin the sparring match. This opponent uses arrows heavily. The damage can be high, so use wooden barricades nearby as cover.
Stay patient during this fight. Wait for safe moments instead of attacking continuously.
Nioh 3 Awawa no Tsuji Master Location
Recommended Level: Around 66
Begin at the Kamo Riverbank Shrine. Walk forward and then move south until you find another Spirit Vein. Cross it and you will see the Master waiting on the other side.
This fight is straightforward compared to others. Keep a balanced approach between offense and defense.
Nioh 3 Hachijo Master Location
Recommended Level: Around 73
This Master is locked behind a side myth called The Box’s Guardian. Start this myth by speaking to the Onmyo Mage located north of Rajomon Suzaku Avenue Shrine.
During the quest, you will need to visit a building in the northeast area. Inside the building, you will find a Bloody Grave interaction point. Activating it starts the Master fight.
This is one of the tougher Masters. Make sure your gear and level are ready before attempting it.
