Call of Duty Warzone has introduced a new competitive mode called Iron Gauntlet. The mode is currently in its beta stage and is available for a limited time. Players can try it until March 9, 2026, at 10 AM PT.
During this testing period, developers will study player feedback and monitor how the mode performs. Based on this information, the final version of Iron Gauntlet could return later in the season, possibly during the Season 2 Reloaded update.
Since Iron Gauntlet has temporarily replaced Resurgence Ranked Play, many players are curious about how the new mode works and what makes it different from the normal Battle Royale experience.
What Is Iron Gauntlet Mode in Warzone
Iron Gauntlet is designed to deliver a more competitive version of Warzone. The mode changes several important gameplay systems to create a slower and more tactical experience.
Instead of relying heavily on fast eliminations and powerful loot, players must focus more on positioning, teamwork, and strategy.
In the current beta version, the mode is only available in Duos on the Verdansk map. The match features 150 players, which means 75 teams of two players compete in every match.
Many core gameplay systems have been adjusted, including the economy, loot distribution, and combat balance.
Faster Circle Movement
One of the biggest differences in Iron Gauntlet mode is how quickly the gas circles close.
The safe zone shrinks faster than in standard Battle Royale matches. Because of this, players cannot stay in one location for too long.
Teams must constantly rotate across the map and secure strong positions early. Movement and map awareness become much more important in this mode.
Limited Vehicle Options
Another change in Iron Gauntlet is the removal of most vehicles.
Players will only find Bikes and ATVs available across the map. Larger and safer vehicles are not included in this mode.
This makes traveling across the map more risky. Teams must carefully plan how they move because escaping dangerous situations becomes harder.
Reduced Loot and Resources
Iron Gauntlet significantly changes the loot system.
Players will notice that cash, killstreaks, and high-tier weapons are much harder to find. Epic and Legendary weapons appear much less frequently compared to normal Warzone matches.
Because of this, players cannot rely on powerful weapons early in the game. Instead, they must adapt to whatever equipment they find.
This makes every match feel more balanced and competitive.
No Free Loadout Drops
Another major change involves the loadout system.
In standard Warzone matches, players often receive free loadout drops during the match. However, Iron Gauntlet removes these free drops completely.
Players must now purchase loadouts from Buy Stations if they want their custom weapons. At the same time, the price of items at Buy Stations has been increased.
This change makes money management much more important.
Slower Time to Kill
Warzone players have often complained about the fast time-to-kill system in recent updates. Iron Gauntlet addresses this by making major changes to player health.
The base health has been increased from 150 to 300, which doubles the amount of health players have.
This means gunfights last longer and require more skill and accuracy. Players now have more time to react during battles.
Additionally, health regeneration takes longer to begin after taking damage, which adds more tension to combat situations.
No Perks Available
In Iron Gauntlet mode, Perks are completely removed from the loot system.
Players cannot collect them while exploring the map. This ensures that all teams compete under the same conditions without additional advantages.
Removing perks also keeps the focus on gun skill and strategy.
Adjusted Ground Weapons
Ground weapons have also been slightly improved.
Many common weapons now come with extended magazines and iron sights, especially assault rifles and SMGs. This helps players stay competitive even when using basic equipment.
Even though high-tier weapons are rare, these improved basic weapons still allow players to fight effectively.
