There’s a fresh wave of chatter around the God of War series, and this time it’s pointing toward something happening sooner rather than later. Nothing official has come out yet, but the noise has been consistent enough to get fans paying attention. If the timing lines up, an announcement could land before the month wraps up.
What makes this more interesting is that Sony already has multiple God of War projects in motion. The God of War Trilogy Remake is in development, but the current rumors aren’t about that. Instead, they’re centered on a completely separate title, something new that hasn’t been revealed yet. That distinction matters, especially since the remake is still believed to be quite early in production.
Something new for God of War might be closer than expected
A big part of the speculation comes from Tom Henderson, who recently mentioned that a new mainline God of War game could be announced this month. On its own, that’s just a rumor, but it lines up with talk of another PlayStation State of Play happening in April. NateTheHate also hinted at a possible date, although he made it clear that nothing is locked in yet.

If Sony does go ahead with a State of Play soon, it would be an ideal place to show something like this. The company has a habit of using those showcases for big reveals, and God of War is easily one of its biggest draws.
The series has already been active this year. Back in February, Sony quietly dropped God of War: Sons of Sparta, a smaller prequel that looks at Kratos much earlier in his life. It didn’t blow everyone away critically, but it still found an audience and performed well commercially, which says a lot about how strong the brand still is.
As for the remake collection, there’s been some movement there too. Terrence C. Carson, the original voice of Kratos, confirmed he’s involved, which suggests the older games are being treated with some care. Still, with development at an early stage, it’s probably not something we’ll see anytime soon.
Outside of gaming, the franchise is stretching into other areas as well. A live-action series is in the works with Amazon, based on the Norse era storyline. Production has already started, though there’s no clear release window yet.
Put it all together, and it feels like God of War is building toward something. Whether that turns out to be a full reveal this month or just another tease, the momentum is definitely there.
