LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight appears to have leaked ahead of release after some Xbox players unexpectedly gained full access to the game nearly two weeks before launch. The upcoming title from TT Games is officially set to release on May 22, 2026, but a strange pre-order issue seems to have allowed certain users to start playing much earlier than intended.
The situation first started gaining attention after a Reddit user claimed they pre-ordered the standard digital edition through Walmart and instantly received a working download code. What initially looked like a random mistake quickly turned into something much bigger once other players tried it for themselves. A surprising number of users reported the exact same thing.
Players were apparently able to fully install the game and launch it without waiting for the official release date. Naturally, clips, screenshots and reactions started spreading across social media almost immediately as fans realized the game was already accessible for some people.
That is a pretty big slip-up considering how much anticipation has been building around the project over the last several months. Ever since the game was announced in 2025, fans of both Batman and LEGO games have been eager to see what TT Games could do with a modern open-world Gotham City experience.
The new title is expected to feature a much larger Gotham, expanded gameplay systems and a more serious tone compared to older LEGO Batman entries, while still keeping the humor the franchise is known for.

TT Games Seems To Have Moved Quickly LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight
Not long after reports of the leak began appearing online, some users noticed a mandatory update showing up when trying to access the game. Many now believe TT Games pushed out a quick patch in an attempt to stop additional players from getting early access.
However, players who had already downloaded the game before the update reportedly found ways to continue playing offline. That likely means some early users can still experience large parts of the game ahead of launch, even if online features become restricted.
So far, the issue mainly appears connected to Xbox users who purchased the standard digital version through Walmart. There has been little indication that the same glitch affected every platform or retailer.
Ironically, there is still an official way to play the game early. The Deluxe Edition includes a 72-hour early access bonus, meaning some fans were already going to enter Gotham a few days ahead of launch anyway.
This also is not the first major gaming leak in recent days. Forza Horizon 6 reportedly surfaced online early as well after a Steam-related error exposed game files before release.
Even with the accidental launch chaos, excitement around LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight still feels incredibly strong. With the full release now right around the corner, fans will not have to wait much longer to see whether the game can live up to the hype.
