Street Fighter 6 at EWC 2026 runs from July 28 to 31. Thirty-two players, one million dollars. The bracket is smaller than last year sixteen fewer slots which makes it harder to get in and raises the overall quality of the field. The names already confirmed for this event are some of the most respected in fighting game history.
The Players
Tokido is one of the most decorated players in Street Fighter history. He has competed at the highest level for over fifteen years and continues to be relevant in Street Fighter 6. Daigo Umehara known in the community simply as “The Beast” is perhaps the most famous Street Fighter player of all time. His presence alone at any tournament adds significance to the event. Fuudo, Punk, MenaRD, AngryBird, Big Bird, gachikun these are all players with major tournament wins and years of top-level experience.
Getting this many established names in one bracket for a single tournament is rare. Usually the field at large events includes a mix of veterans and newer competitors. Here the concentration of experienced, high-level players is unusually high, which suggests the competition is going to be very tight throughout.

How Players Qualify
EVO 2026 provides direct qualification to Esports World Cup. EVO the Evolution Championship Series is the most prestigious fighting game tournament in the world. Players who perform well at EVO earn their spot at EWC. The remaining slots go through Last Chance Qualifiers, which give players who were close to qualifying at EVO another opportunity to make the field. This two-path system is fair and produces a well-rounded bracket.
Street Fighter 6 as a Spectator Game
Street Fighter 6 is genuinely enjoyable to watch even if you have never played a fighting game. The structure is simple enough to follow two players, best of three or five, first to win enough rounds. Within that structure the depth is enormous. Players read each other’s habits, set up traps, bait specific responses, and punish mistakes with precise combos. A single exchange can swing the momentum of a match completely.
The comeback factor in Street Fighter is particularly powerful. A player who is down a round and a large amount of health can win from that position with the right decisions. When it happens in a high-stakes match at a major tournament the crowd reaction is immediate and genuine. Paris in July, with a live crowd watching these matches, is going to produce moments that get talked about long after the event ends.
Four days, July 28 to 31. If you follow fighting games or want to see what the best Street Fighter 6 players in the world look like competing for real money, this tournament is a must-watch.
