MGCB Orders Shutdown Of 5 Illegal Gambling Sites In Michigan

The MGCB has taken a strict decision against illegal online gambling sites by issuing cease-and-desist orders to five unlicensed gambling websites. The move was announced on 13 June 2025, and the decisions target operators that were found to be operating without proper authorization.

Which 5 Illegal Gambling Sites Will Shut Down?

The five sites ordered to cease operations immediately are:

  1. BoVegas Casino
  2. BUSR
  3. Cherry Gold Casino
  4. Lucky Legends
  5. Wager Attack Casino

Each of these platforms was discovered offering casino-style games and sports betting to Michigan residents. They lacked the required state licenses, making it an illegal practice. The MGCB investigation revealed that these operators were actively marketing their services to local players, bypassing Michigan’s strict regulatory framework.

Why Did MGCB Order The Shutdown?

The MGCB’s action was taken to protect Michigan consumers and uphold the integrity of the regulated gaming industry. These five sites were found to violate several key statutes:

  1. Michigan’s Lawful Internet Gaming Act
  2. Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act
  3. Michigan Penal Code

Operating without a license means these sites did not adhere to Michigan’s consumer protection standards. As a result, players are left exposed to unfair gaming practices, potential fraud.

MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams said, “These illegal sites undermine the integrity of Michigan’s regulated gaming industry and put players at serious risk. We will not tolerate unlicensed gambling operations that exploit Michigan residents.”

Shutdown Timeline And Enforcement

The cease-and-desist orders require these five illegal operators to stop all gambling activities targeting Michigan residents immediately. Historically, the MGCB grants operators up to 14 days from the date of the notice to comply with the order. If the sites fail to withdraw from the state within this period, the MGCB has stated it will pursue further legal action in cooperation with the Michigan Attorney General’s Office.

The MGCB’s latest enforcement action has sent a strong message to unlicensed operators attempting to exploit Michigan’s online gambling market. By targeting BoVegas Casino, BUSR, Cherry Gold Casino, Lucky Legends, and Wager Attack Casino, the state aims to protect consumers from fraud. Players are also encouraged to use only licensed platforms to ensure their safety.
