Black Ops 6 VMP Elite Blueprint: How To Unlock And Use It

The VMP has always been one of the most loved SMGs in the Call of Duty: Black Ops series. Fans remember it from Black Ops 3 and Black Ops 4 as a weapon with incredible fire rate, high mobility, and smooth handling. Its crisp iron sights made it perfect for close-range battles, and many players considered it a reliable pick in multiplayer.

Now in Black Ops 6, the VMP does not return as a standalone gun. Instead, it makes a comeback in the form of a special blueprint for the Jackal PDW called the VMP Elite. Here’s everything you need to know about how to unlock it and how to equip it.

How to Unlock the VMP Elite Blueprint

The VMP Elite is tied to your Prestige progression, so you’ll need to grind through the ranks.

  • Reach Prestige 8, Level 50 to unlock it automatically. Prestige 8 is easy to spot since it carries a raven icon.
  • Once unlocked, head into the Gunsmith, select the Jackal PDW, and then choose the VMP Elite blueprint.
  • Equipping it instantly transforms your Jackal into its VMP form with a unique design and weapon setup.

If you haven’t reached that level yet, you can preview the reward by going into Barracks > Progression > Prestige, clicking on Prestige 8, and checking out the blueprint in the rewards list. This way, you can track your progress and stay motivated while leveling up.

Using the VMP Elite in Ranked Play

For players who miss the original VMP iron sights, there’s a way to experience it again. The only limitation is that this trick works consistently only in Ranked Play, not in standard multiplayer.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Go to your Loadouts and pick the Jackal PDW.
  2. Highlight the VMP Elite blueprint and open the Build Options menu.
    • On PC: Right-click
    • On Xbox: Press Y
    • On PlayStation: Press Triangle
  3. Select Reset to Default from the menu.
  4. Re-select the VMP Elite blueprint. You’ll now see an option to remove restricted attachments (Ranked Play only).
  5. Confirm the change, swap out the optic, and customize your attachments.
  6. Save your build and load into a Ranked match. Your VMP will now appear with its classic iron sights.

As long as you don’t reapply the blueprint afterward, the setup will remain the same.

Why the VMP Elite Is Worth Unlocking

The VMP Elite is more than just a cosmetic blueprint. It brings back a weapon style that long-time Black Ops fans loved, while still fitting within the new systems of Black Ops 6. Its combination of speed, handling, and versatility makes it a strong choice for close-quarters combat, especially in Ranked Play where every gunfight matters.

For players chasing nostalgia or just looking for a reliable SMG to dominate tight maps, unlocking the VMP Elite is absolutely worth the grind.
