Tekken 8 has had a hard time lately. Season 2 brought a lot of changes that many competitive players did not like, and the backlash has been loud. Pros have been walking away, tournament numbers have dropped, and the community has been divided. But while many players have moved on, one man has been doing the complete opposite.
Fahad “yOReDz” Almutairi, a pro player from the Middle East, has been playing Tekken 8 ranked matches more than almost anyone else in the world. He is not just playing he is winning. He has been sitting at the top of the in-game leaderboard for a long time now, making him the highest-ranked player in the entire game.
And now he has done something no one else has done before.
yOReDz has become the first player in the world to reach the God of Destruction 7 rank in online play. The only rank that remains above him now is God of Destruction Infinity, the absolute top rank in the game.
What It Takes to Get There
The Tekken 8 ranking system is not easy to climb. There are 38 distinct rank badges in the game, starting from Beginner all the way up to God of Destruction Infinity. As of late 2025, the game had around 1.6 million ranked accounts worldwide, and only 0.01% of players ever reach Tekken God rank and above. Getting to God of Destruction 7 is a level above that something no one had done before yOReDz.
His current point total sits at 400,315, placing him well ahead of the second-ranked player, Destructimo from Europe, who is at 395,990 points. The gap between yOReDz and everyone else shows just how much time and focus he has put into the game.
A Player Who Competes at the Top Level Too
What makes this story even more impressive is that yOReDz is not just a ranked grinder. He also competes in real tournaments against the best players in the world. He placed 13th at Evo Japan 2025, 17th at the Esports World Cup 2025, and 13th at the Tekken World Tour 2025 Finals and he did all of this while playing as Ling Xiaoyu.
Ling Xiaoyu is not the easiest character to use at a high level. Choosing her and still performing well in major tournaments while also being the top-ranked player online speaks volumes about how seriously yOReDz takes the game.
One Player Standing While Others Walk Away
While yOReDz keeps climbing, the wider scene around Tekken 8 is struggling. Season 2 made major changes to how the game plays, and many pros felt the game became too simple and too aggressive. Tournament numbers have been falling, and many pro players have pointed directly at Season 2 as the reason they stepped back.
Season 3 has not done much to turn things around. Developers have said that only small adjustments can be made for now, leaving players unsatisfied. The game that once had a thriving competitive scene is now dealing with questions about whether it can hold on.
What Comes Next for yOReDz
Despite all the noise around the game’s direction, yOReDz has one clear goal left reaching God of Destruction Infinity, the final and highest rank in all of Tekken 8. He is close. Every ranked match he plays brings him one step closer to doing something that no other player in the world has done yet.
His story is a reminder that even when a game goes through a tough period, there will always be someone who cares deeply enough to push through it. yOReDz is not waiting for the game to get better. He is making history inside it, right now, one match at a time.
Whether Tekken 8 finds its way back to a stronger competitive state or not, yOReDz will have left a mark in the game that no one can take away. And when he finally hits that God of Destruction Infinity rank, he will stand alone at the very top the only player to ever get there.
