Every year, Apple and Google announce their top applications and game picks from releases on the App Store and Google Play Store respectively. While Apple is yet to announce its top picks of apps and games, on the other hand, Google has already announced its best apps and games of 2024.
Best Overall Game: AFK Journey
The Best Game award went to AFK Journey, an exciting fantasy RPG. With its large world, beautiful graphics, and strategic gameplay, the game provides an enjoyable experience for players. The wide variety of characters and fun battle system make it stand out from other mobile RPGs, earning it the top spot in this category.
AFK Journey has been named Google Play’s Game of the Year. An AFK (away from keyboard) game usually only needs a few minutes of light play each day, and you earn rewards while you’re not playing. But AFK Journey is also a third-person role-playing adventure game. It has to be noted that, AFK Journey free to play and is the sequel to AFK Arena, which came out in 2019.
Like last year’s winner, Honkai: Star Rail, a similar free-to-play game, AFK Journey follows the trend of mobile games inspired by traditional game styles.

Partiful is an event planning app that helps organize parties or gatherings. It includes features like polls to check availability, invitations, RSVP options, shared photo galleries, and comments. Partiful is a good alternative to Facebook’s event planning tools for those who no longer use Facebook. The app is free and doesn’t have a paid version with extra features.
