Cats in GTA Online are no longer just part of the city background. With the Firefighter Odd Job added in a recent update, players can now take part in rescue tasks. Some of these jobs include saving cats that are stuck on rooftops or high places and bringing them back safely to their owners.
If you want to know how this works, here is a simple guide to help you rescue cats in GTA Online.
How Cat Rescue Works in GTA Online
Cat rescue is not a separate activity. It is one of the random missions that can appear when you start the Firefighter Odd Job.
To begin firefighter work, you need to visit a fire station in the city.
How to Start the Firefighter Job
First, go to the Los Santos County Fire Department Fire Station 7. You will find it in the El Burro Heights area on Capital Boulevard.
When you get close to the station, you will receive a message from the fire department asking for volunteer firefighters. This message means the job is active.
Walk inside the station and stand in the blue circle. Interact with it to start the firefighter duty. After a short wait, you will get your first task from dispatch.
When the Cat Rescue Mission Appears
The cat rescue mission is random. You will not get it every time you start firefighter work. When it does appear, you will see a blue cat icon on your map.
This icon shows the exact place where the cat is stuck. Most of the time, the cat will be on a rooftop, a ledge, or a small raised structure in a neighborhood area.
How to Reach and Save the Cat
Once you arrive at the marked location, the game will not guide you step by step. You need to use what is around you to reach the cat.
Some easy ways to get up include:
- Look for a ladder on the side of the building
- Jump across from a nearby roof
- Park your fire truck close and climb on it to gain height
- Use another nearby vehicle as a step if needed
Each location is different, so you may need to try more than one way.
When you get close to the cat, press the interaction button shown on your screen. Your character will pick up the cat safely.
After that, take the cat back down and return it to the owner on the ground. Once the job is done, you will earn around 7,000 GTA dollars as a reward.
Tips to Make Cat Rescues Easier
- Always park your fire truck close to the building before you start climbing
- Check for ladders first before trying risky jumps
- Move slowly on rooftops so you do not fall
- If you cannot find a clear path, move your fire truck to create a better angle to climb
