Xbox announced a new feature today that will make it easier for gamers to get to all their games in one place. Thanks to the Xbox Insider programme, gamers can now combine their Steam and Xbox libraries on the Xbox app for Windows 11 PCs and supported handheld devices such as the ROG Ally and ROG Ally X.
With this new feature, you can gather all your games in one place, so you don’t have to open multiple apps to find your games. Below is a quick and simple step-by-step guide to help you link your Steam games to the Xbox app.
1. Sign up for the Xbox Insider Programme
To access this feature early, you need to join the Xbox Insider Program. With this programme you get to access new and upcoming features before they are rolled out to everyone.
For PC:
- Click the Start button to open Microsoft Store.
- Search Store for Xbox Insider Hub.
- Click Get or Install to download the application.
Xbox Console:
- Go to the Store from your Home screen or the guide.
- Search for Xbox Insider Bundle.
- Click Get or Install.
This installs both the Insider Hub and the Report a problem app.
Step 2: Join the PC Gaming Preview
Once you’ve installed the Xbox Insider Hub, follow these steps to enable the Steam library feature.
On PC:
- Open the Xbox Insider Hub.
- Go to Previews > PC Gaming > Join.
- Select PC Gaming again and click Save.
- Restart your Windows 11 device.
On Xbox Console:
- Open the Xbox Insider Hub.
- On the main page, go to Previews.
- Choose Xbox Update Preview.
- Click Join or Manage.
- Pick the Preview ring that suits your needs.
Step 3: View Steam Games in the Xbox App
Once you’re part of the PC Gaming preview and you’ve restarted your PC:
- Games from your Steam library will show up under My Library in the Xbox app.
- They’ll also appear in the recent games list on the app’s sidebar.
- This makes it easier to jump straight into your favorite games.
You can also go to the Library & Extensions settings in the Xbox app to hide or show specific PC storefronts like Steam.
