Mojang Studios has officially revealed two brand-new capes for Minecraft players ahead of TwitchCon 2026. The upcoming Builder Cape and Crafter Cape are limited-time cosmetics, and fans are already trying to figure out how to unlock them before they disappear.
Both capes are connected to special Minecraft events happening during TwitchCon 2026 and Minecraft Live. Since rare capes are always highly valuable inside the Minecraft community, these new cosmetics are quickly becoming one of the most talked-about rewards this year.
Here is everything players need to know about getting the Builder Cape and Crafter Cape in Minecraft.
How To Unlock The Builder Cape In Minecraft
The Builder Cape is connected directly to TwitchCon 2026 in Rotterdam. Players who attend the event physically will have the chance to unlock this exclusive cosmetic.
To get the cape, attendees must first collect a special inventory ribbon from the badge pickup area during TwitchCon. This ribbon then needs to be attached to the official TwitchCon badge.
After that, players must participate in three Minecraft Arena activities or Minecraft content sessions during the event. Completing these activities rewards players with emeralds.
Once enough emeralds are collected, attendees can visit the Cape Trader inside the Minecraft Arena. There, players can exchange the emeralds for a special Cape Card containing a 5×5 redemption code.
The code can later be redeemed through Minecraft’s official website to permanently unlock the Builder Cape.
Crafter Cape Will Arrive Through Minecraft Live
The Crafter Cape is the second limited cosmetic announced by Mojang. Unlike the Builder Cape, players will not need to travel physically to unlock this one.
According to the announcement, the Crafter Cape will become available during Minecraft Live on May 30, 2026, at 11:30 AM EDT.
Mojang has not fully revealed the unlocking process yet, but many players believe it could work similarly to previous Twitch or livestream rewards. There is a strong chance the cape may be linked to a watchtime quest where viewers simply need to watch the livestream for a certain amount of time.
More details are expected to be revealed officially during the Minecraft Live broadcast.
Why Minecraft Capes Are So Popular
Minecraft capes have always been extremely rare cosmetics in the game. Unlike normal skins, capes are usually tied to special events, tournaments, conventions, or exclusive promotions.
Because of this, older capes often become collector items within the Minecraft community. Many players enjoy showing off rare capes in multiplayer servers since they instantly stand out.
The Builder Cape and Crafter Cape are already generating huge excitement because they are connected to major 2026 Minecraft celebrations.
TwitchCon And Minecraft Events Continue To Grow
TwitchCon and Minecraft Live have become massive community-driven gaming events over the years. They are no longer just simple announcements or creator meetups.
Modern Minecraft events now include:
- Interactive fan activities
- Community competitions
- Creator sessions
- Exclusive rewards
- Live reveals
- Special cosmetic unlocks
This approach helps keep the Minecraft player base highly active while giving fans more reasons to participate in official events.
With both new capes now confirmed, many Minecraft players are already preparing for TwitchCon Rotterdam and Minecraft Live to secure these limited collectibles before they are gone forever.
