Microprose has announced that it will be publishing the upcoming real-time strategy game Strategos. This exciting new RTS is being developed by Strategos Games, and the partnership was officially revealed on March 27.
A Classic RTS with a Fresh Look
Strategos brings back the feel of classic strategy games like Rome: Total War, but with improved visuals and smoother gameplay. It is a real-time tactics wargame that focuses on large-scale battles set in the classical antiquity period.
Huge Battles with 120+ Factions
One of the biggest highlights of Strategos is its massive selection of factions. Players can command over 120 different armies, including multiple variations of Sparta (Hellenic and non-Hellenic), Alexandrian forces, Egyptian warriors, and Roman legions. With more than 250 unique units from ancient history, the game offers endless strategic possibilities.
Players will be able to create their own custom battles or relive historical conflicts. However, there is no campaign mode at the moment. Despite this, the game’s deep strategy mechanics will ensure hours of engaging gameplay.
A Much-Needed Game for Historical Strategy Fans
Fans of historical RTS games have been waiting for something fresh, and Strategos might be the answer. Many players were disappointed with the handling of Total War: Pharaoh, which was initially meant to be a smaller-scale Total War Saga title but was later released as a full game. Some players also felt that Creative Assembly had shifted its focus more towards the commercially successful Total War: Warhammer series, leaving historical RTS fans wanting more.
With Strategos, there’s now something new to look forward to for those who love large-scale ancient warfare.
Expected Release in 2025
There is no exact release date yet, but Strategos is set to launch sometime in 2025. This means players won’t have to wait too long before they can experience this massive battle simulator.
