Fortnite players temporarily lost access to one of the game’s funniest new mechanics after a strange bug started causing major problems during matches.
Epic Games has officially disabled llama riding in Fortnite after players discovered an exploit that could drastically change the size of their character models in-game. Some players were suddenly shrinking to tiny sizes, while others became unusually large after interacting with the feature.
The issue spread quickly across social media once clips of the bug started appearing online. Videos showed players running around the island looking either miniature or oversized, creating chaotic and sometimes hilarious moments during matches.
Not long after the clips went viral, Epic Games confirmed that the company had disabled llama riding while developers investigate the problem. The studio also temporarily removed shoulder riding, another recently added feature that appears connected to the same issue.

A Popular Fortnite Feature Suddenly Started Breaking the Game
Llama riding was originally introduced during Fortnite’s April Fool’s event earlier this year. At the time, the feature was mostly seen as another goofy addition designed to match the game’s chaotic style.
The update also included oversized heads and finger guns as part of the limited-time event, but unlike those temporary additions, players enjoyed llama riding enough that Epic decided to keep it in the game permanently.
That decision looked like a success at first. The feature quickly became popular because of how ridiculous it felt watching players race around the map on top of Supply Llamas. Shoulder riding also gained attention after squads started using it to create funny moments during games. The newly discovered bug changed things quickly, though.
Players soon realized the mechanic could accidentally affect character size during matches, creating obvious gameplay issues. Smaller players became difficult to spot, while giant-sized characters caused visual problems and attracted immediate attention from everyone nearby.
Epic Games later acknowledged the issue through its official support channels, confirming both mechanics would stay disabled until a proper fix is ready. So far, the company has not revealed exactly when the features will return.
The timing comes during one of Fortnite’s busiest periods in recent memory. Chapter 7 Season 2 has already introduced major map updates, new crossover content, and several gameplay additions across different modes.
Fortnite also recently made Save the World free-to-play nearly a decade after the mode first launched, while new collaborations continue arriving almost every month.
The current season already featured a crossover with Ben 10, and leaks continue pointing toward an upcoming collaboration with Overwatch that could bring skins based on Mercy, Tracer, D.Va, and Genji into the game.
Even with llama riding temporarily gone, Fortnite continues finding new ways to create unpredictable moments every week. Only Fortnite could somehow turn riding a giant loot llama into a bug that accidentally transforms players into giants and tiny action figures overnight
