The PC version of the game that started the battle royale wave, PUBG: Battlegrounds, has a full tournament at EWC 2026. Twenty-four teams. Two million dollars. July 21-26. This is the professional level of a game that millions of people play casually and it is a big difference from what you see here and a normal lobby.
The Game at the Pro Level
PUBG competitive is run on a point system. Points are awarded for placement and for kills across multiple matches in a match day. That means one game isn’t everything, and consistency across rounds is as important as winning individual games. A team that finishes second or third in every game with good kills will often outscore a team that wins one game and dies early in the rest.
That kind of scoring creates some interesting strategic choices. Are you playing for position and avoiding risky fights? Or do you force engagements for kill points at the risk of dying early? The best teams strike the balance and do it consistently for long stretches of play. If you’re going to follow the format, to see that play out over multiple match days is really compelling.
How Teams Get There
All 24 teams in EWC qualify through the PCS PUBG Continental Series. This is the system of the regional leagues for all the major regions in PUBG. Teams play in their regional PCS , earn points and qualify for international events. The teams that qualify for EWC are the best teams in their regional standings so the field is tight and the average level of play is very high.

Six Days of Competition
July 21-26 is six days of PUBG. That allows for the tournament to have proper match days with multiple games per day which allows the points system to do its job and create a proper ranking. Sometimes short PUBG events feel like a lottery. A six-day event smooths that out, and rewards the teams that are truly best over a longer run.
Two million dollars in prize money shows how serious the organisers are taking this. PUBG esports looked to be in trouble at one point, but the game has steadied and the competitive scene has continued to grow. EWC is a big event for that scene and the teams involved will treat it as such.
If you’re a fan of PUBG or you just want to see what a pro battle royale looks like on PC, keep an eye on Paris from July 21 to 26. 24 teams. 6 days. Every game day with real stakes.
