The 2026 League of Legends (LoL) regional splits are nearly finished, and that means we get to know all the lineups for the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI 2026). In total, 11 teams have booked their spots. The tournament will be held in Daejeon, South Korea, and things are set to get started later this month, in June.
Here’s the basic breakdown of MSI 2026 only two teams qualify from each of the five major regions LCK, LPL, LEC, LCS and LCP while CBLOL sends just one team. But qualifying does not mean every team walks straight into the main event. Most of the second-place teams from their regions will first need to battle it out in something called the Play-In Stage, just to earn a single spot in the bigger stage.
How Teams Got Here
The last qualifying spot was secured after the LCK “Road to MSI” matchup between T1 and Gen.G. That result also saw Gen.G, the team that lifted the MSI trophy in 2024, eliminated from this year’s contention.
One area is different from the rest. This time, the LPL actually gets two first-seed spots since Bilibili Gaming’s first win in Stand 2026. So both of LPL’s representatives get a straight pass into the Bracket Stage, skipping the Play-In entirely, which is a nice bonus for how strong the region has looked.
Play-In Stage: The Second Chances
The Play-In Stage will see four teams begin their MSI journey. They are mostly second seeds from their regions, with only one progressing to join the main bracket. It’s a tough position to be in because one loss can end the run before it really starts.
- T1 (LCK)
- Karmine Corp (LEC)
- Deep Cross Gaming (LCP)
- Team Liquid (LCS)
It’s worth noting that T1 being here is a bit of a surprise to some fans, given the team’s pedigree, but that’s how competitive the LCK has been this year. The Play-In Stage runs from June 27 to July 1, so we won’t have to wait long to see how this shakes out.
Bracket Stage: Straight to the Main Event
Seven teams have already locked in their spots in the Bracket Stage, having earned it as the top seed from their region (or, in LPL’s case, by winning First Stand). They’ll be joined by whichever team survives the Play-In Stage, bringing the Bracket Stage total to eight.
- Hanwha Life Esports (LCK)
- Bilibili Gaming (LPL)
- Top Esports (LPL)
- G2 Esports (LEC)
- Secret Whales (LCP)
- LYON (LCS)
- FURIA (CBLOL)
FURIA’s presence here is a notable storyline too, marking another step forward for the CBLOL region on the international stage.

When Does MSI 2026 Start?
Here’s the schedule breakdown so you can plan your viewing:
- Play-In Stage: June 27 to July 1
- Bracket Stage: Starts July 2
- Grand Final: July 12
The event is based in South Korea, so fans in North America and Europe will have to shift their sleep schedules to watch it. Match days generally begin at around 8 PM PST, which is around 5 AM CET. So if you’re watching from the West, prepare for some early mornings or late nights.
All games at MSI 2026, from the Play-In Stage to the Grand Final, will be best-of-five. With the new LoL patch 26.13, fans can expect a new meta and some wild matchups, especially in the Play-In Stage where one bad game can end a team’s run.
Rosters are set. The schedule is locked in. All that’s left now is for the games to begin. Whether T1 are trying to fight their way back through the Play-In or Bilibili Gaming is looking to carry their First Stand momentum into the Bracket Stage, MSI 2026 looks like it has plenty of storylines worth following.
