The multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) World of Warcraft was released in 2004 by Blizzard Entertainment. World of Warcraft is situated in the Warcraft fictional universe and takes place in the world of Azeroth, around four years after the events of the series’ most recent game, Warcraft III: The Ice Throne. The game was released on November 23, 2004, to mark the 10-year Warcraft franchise milestone. It was first announced in 2001. World of Warcraft has garnered nine awards since its launch.

Like other MMORPGs, this one allows players to create a character avatar and explore an open world in first- or third-person while taking in the scenery, dispatching a variety of monsters, completing quests, and interacting with NPCs and other players. Although the game may be played solo without interacting with other players, it encourages cooperation in order to complete missions, explore dungeons, and engage in player-versus-player (PvP) combat. The major emphasis of the game is character growth. Players can buy and trade items using in-game money, among other gameplay features, to enhance their gear and level up their characters.

For the past 17 years, World of Warcraft has been a gaming mainstay, and new players keep signing up for the enormously well-liked MMO. It’s not often easy for new players to join without feeling intimidated by how much there is to explore and discover because of its extensive history and variety of content.

For new World of Warcraft players, we’ve provided a beginner’s guide to get you ready for the challenges that lie ahead.

  • Play For Free

The beginner edition of World of Warcraft is a condensed version of the complete game with several features disabled, such as mail sending and any guild-related activities. Before investing any money into the game, you can create as many characters as you desire, level them up to 20, and access a ton of stuff. But why should you start with the free version?

In other words, you might not like it. It’s not a game for everyone, and if you decide it’s not for you, it may be a very expensive mistake. Because of this, it’s worthwhile to try out this version first and test the waters to see if it works. If you like it, you can begin a membership to have complete access to this enormous and varied world (of Warcraft).

  • Searching for and Selecting your Realm

You’ll need to decide which realm you want to call home before even starting the game.

Each realm in the universe of Warcraft (WoW) game universe contains thousands of people and their characters. Although each of these realms is a thorough representation of the game’s world, there are some subtle variances that can impact the types of gamers you encounter and how busy they are. These include, for example, the population, the language, and the ratio of factions.

So which realm should you choose? What kind of player you want to be will determine that. If you intend to play solo, it’s a good idea to choose a realm with few people or a low population, as you’ll frequently discover a lot of gamers who are willing to assist. Make sure to choose the same realm if you wish to play with pals; otherwise, you won’t be able to.

You can still play the entire game’s content regardless of the realm. You’ll never go wrong if you simply choose the realm that most satisfies your needs.

  • Selecting what to play

Currently, you are set up and prepared to play. Making your character is the hardest but most enjoyable step in starting World of Warcraft. The role you wish to play in a group is one of many things to think about when creating your character. Which group will you support during combat? Which class and race are you going to play?

Let’s dissect the procedure step-by-step to help you get ready to start your adventures in Azeroth because it can be a challenging process.

Factions

You must first choose between the Alliance or the Horde, the two sides in the game.

Both of these camps differ from one another in numerous ways. Each features distinctive races, narratives, philosophies, and variants, as well as important figures and a rich history woven throughout the WoW universe. Additionally, key aspects of gameplay, like the zones and tasks you can access, are influenced by your faction. Players from opposing factions are prohibited from playing together or interacting, much like in realms. In order to play cooperatively with friends, be sure to select the same faction.

Race

You have now selected your faction; select your race. For each group, there are 7 different races from which to choose.

  1. Dwarves
  2. Night Elves
  3. Gnomes
  4. Humans
  5. Draenei
  6. Worgen
  7. Pandaren

The Horde poses:

  1. Orcs
  2. Undead
  3. Tauren
  4. Trolls
  5. Blood Elves
  6. Goblins
  7. Pandaren

Each side has access to an additional 5 ally races after completing certain accomplishments. You can customise the cosmetics of each race to make them more like you. Additionally, each has certain racial skills that can add bonuses to particular numbers, offer you an additional ability, or have some other practical value.

Classes

Both factions can play any class, but some classes are only available to particular races. Specialisations are separated into classes, with the majority of classes having three. The only exceptions to this are the two Demon Hunters and the four Druids.

Warrior: With one tank and two DPS specs, the warrior is a vicious melee class. Choose them if you enjoy jumping right into battle.

Paladin: People who use holy magic in melee combat. either a tank, a healer, or a DPS.

Hunter: A ranged or melee DPS is available. capable of domesticating wild animals to battle alongside them.

Rogue: A purebred melee DPS with a talent for cunning, stealth, and crazy damage bursts.

Priest: Has two distinct healing specialties. Or they can use their shadowy abilities to attack from a distance as a ranged DPS type.

Shaman: Master of the elements, the shaman can summon lightning and fire to strike their adversaries. They can be healers, melee DPS, or ranged DPS.

Mage: Mages are expert spellcasters who work with fire, ice, or arcane energy.

Warlock: A purely ranged DPS class that channels fire and darkness magic. able to call forth demons to battle for them.

Monk: Unmatched fighters who summon the Mists to act as healers, melee DPS, and tanks for them in battle.

Druid: Change into many animal forms. The most flexible class, including melee DPS, ranged DPS, tanks, and healers as its four distinct specs.

Demon Hunter: Demon Hunters are highly mobile melee specialists that amplify their blows with demonic force. tanks or melee DPS are both possible.

Death Knight: Death Knights are former Lich King’s minions who use strong runeblades as melee DPS or tanks.

The specialisations (often referred to as “specs”) that these classes have each given them their own playstyles. Depending on the class, you have a choice of two to four specifications once you reach level 10. Each one contains a unique assortment of spells, skills, and advantages that play very differently from one another. These specs also fit into one of three categories of roles that have an impact on how you interact with other players; depending on their spec, some classes can switch between these categories.

The breakdown of each role is as follows:

Tank: A player who assumes the tank role is essentially a brick wall and is frequently regarded as the group leader. A tank’s role is to defend their comrades from opponents by getting near and grabbing their attention (often referred to as “aggro”) while taking as much damage as they can. Tanks have high health and armour.

DPS (damage per second): Players who take on a DPS (damage per second) position are tasked with eliminating foes in melee and ranged combat by dealing the most amount of damage, as rapidly as they can. Although it can seem easy, folks who are in this situation frequently have to manage some additional responsibilities while they fight. These can entail disrupting spellcasters or employing crowd control skills to keep some foes out of the fray.

Healers: Players who fill this function serve as the group’s defenders. It is a healer’s responsibility to maintain player life by employing spells and skills that reduce, eliminate, or heal damage that other players sustain. Healers can assist the group when necessary by using various supporting skills and a few harm spells.

Making your character can be frightening, but I’d advise just going with what you find attractive and interesting. Going with what sounds enjoyable to you is likely to be what you stick with if you like the appearance of your characters, the story, or the kind of part you’ll be performing. However, if you want to attempt anything different, you can create various characters. In actuality, the majority of players play a few different characters. A class or race you don’t like can easily be changed because levelling up is now more simpler and more pleasant. You can never go wrong if you follow your preferences.

4. Exile’s Reach can be used to teach you the game

Exile’s Reach, a new levelling area included in the Shadowlands expansion, was created to introduce new players to the game’s mechanics, highlight some of its variety, and aid with class comprehension. The controls are explained in tooltips and pop-ups, and each mission does a terrific job of explaining various facets of the game without being overly wordy. To ensure that you obtain the full experience and benefit of this area’s tutorials and assistance, you should read the quest text and tutorials. It simply helps that it also has charm and humour.

It is undoubtedly among the best new elements in the game. You’ll have a blast because it’s a fun location with some humour and awesome tasks.

5. Playing with others is much more enjoyable

For an MMO, this one might seem a little apparent, but WoW excels when played with other people. Finding other players who are just starting out can make leveling up much more fun as you share knowledge and take on the game’s numerous challenges together. In addition, if you ask for help or guidance, there are a ton of seasoned gamers who will be more than happy to provide it.

Joining a guild is one of the finest methods to accomplish this. These are groups of players who join forces to simplify certain game mechanics, such as grouping up and dungeons. They are also a great way to play with others who share your interests and make new acquaintances. Additionally, there are groups you can join and occasions where helpful and gratifying things happen.

Get out there and meet the wonderful individuals who live in the vast community!

6. Check guides and databases

Since World of Warcraft is more than 17 years old, it’s normal to occasionally become lost or perplexed when playing. Thankfully, there are numerous resources available to aid in your understanding of the diverse facets of the world.

Some of the greatest places to go for information include websites like Wowhead and Icyveins, which include guides covering everything from tips and strategies for playing your class to guidelines for achieving goals and everything in between.
