SBC Summit 2025: Africa’s gaming industry is growing fast, and SBC Summit 2025 is making sure it gets the attention it deserves. As part of the event’s Emerging Markets focus, this track is all about giving attendees real, practical advice for breaking into and growing within this dynamic region.
Spotlight on Africa at SBC Summit 2025
Happening on Tuesday, 16 September, at the Feira Internacional de Lisboa (FIL), the Africa track will bring together leading experts to explore both the opportunities and the hurdles across different Emerging Markets Africa. There will be five focused sessions covering everything from tech to regulation, all designed to help businesses succeed on the continent.
Whether you’re looking at more established regions like South Africa or exploring newer markets like Ghana, the track will feature voices from people who really understand what it takes to operate successfully in Africa. You’ll get a better grasp of local challenges and come away with insights you can actually use.
Rasmus Sojmark, Founder and CEO of SBC, put it plainly: “Africa isn’t just one of the most exciting markets in gaming – it’s one of the most misunderstood. That’s why this track matters. We’re bringing together the people who know the region inside out, and creating a space for honest, practical conversations.”
Kicking Things Off with the Africa Leaders Panel
The day will open with Africa Leaders Panel: An Ever-Expanding Horizon, where top industry names will talk about trust-building, working with local communities, and choosing the right markets. Expect big names like Christopher Coyne (888AFRICA), Sab Jhooti (Bonmoja), Laurence Michel (Super Group), Ronnie Whelan (Kingmakers), and moderator William Scott (Meridianbet) to share their experience on how to succeed in places like Nigeria, Kenya, and Tanzania.
Tech That’s Changing the Game
Up next is A Continent on the Move: Sportsbook Technology in Africa, a session looking at how mobile-first platforms are transforming sports betting. With smartphones and mobile money now widely used, there are new ways to engage users and simplify payments. Chris Duncan (Bonmoja), Charles Lee (Kwiff), and Anton Rublievskyi (Growe) will explore how operators can build on that momentum to expand and thrive.
Putting Players First: Regulation Done Right
With more brands entering Africa, Regulating Africa: Putting the Player First will shine a light on how local regulators are stepping up to protect users and guide responsible growth. Hear from Bashir Are (Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority), Carla Bastos (Mpumalanga Economic Regulator), Peter Kesitilwe (Botswana Gambling Authority), and Zoe Siwa (Western Cape Gambling & Racing Board) on how regulation is evolving and what that means for operators.
Marketing That Connects with Culture
One size doesn’t fit all, and that’s especially true in a region as diverse as Africa. Marketing to Africa: No More One-Size-Fits-All will focus on how brands are winning by tailoring their approach to reflect local culture and habits. Panelists include Elad Barzilai (Leverage), Ben Cove (Logifuture), Maha Otu (Betwinner Affiliates), and Michael Rasmussen (E2 Communications), with Lois Bright (Women in Gaming Africa) as moderator. They’ll talk about the power of localized UX, cultural understanding, and smart use of data.
The Bigger Emerging Markets Picture
This Africa track is part of the new Emerging Markets stage at SBC Summit 2025. While the Global Markets tracks will cover broader regions like Latin America, Western Europe, and North America, this new stage goes deeper into fast-growing areas that are changing quickly.
Beyond Africa, the Emerging Markets stage will also feature special sessions on Eurasia and the Middle East on Wednesday, 17 September, and Asia on Thursday, 18 September.
