What the Game Is About
In Dragonheart, players try to catch dragons and gather treasure. But you’re not alone you must also outsmart your opponent. You score points by playing matching cards to the board and using special spaces to collect more cards. The player with the most points at the end wins.
What You Need to Get Started
Here’s how to set up the game:
- Place the board in the center of your table.
- Put the dragon figure on its marked spot.
- Each player chooses a deck either red or green.
- Shuffle your deck and draw five cards as your hand. Keep your cards hidden.
- Place the rest of your deck in front of you. This is your draw pile.
- The youngest player gets to choose who goes first.
Now you’re ready to begin!
How to Play
Each turn has three simple steps: play, collect, and draw.
- Play Cards:
- Choose at least one card from your hand to play.
- All played cards must show the same image and match the picture on the space you’re placing them on.
- Place them face up and show their point values.
- Collect Cards (if possible):
- Some spaces have special effects. If you meet the card requirement, you activate the space.
- If the effect lets you take cards, collect them immediately.
- Draw Cards:
- Draw cards from your deck until you have five cards in hand again.
Players keep taking turns like this playing, collecting, and drawing as the board fills up.
When the Game Ends
The game ends in one of two ways:
- Three Ship Card stacks have been placed.
- The player who placed the final stack finishes their turn.
- The other player gets one final turn.
- A player runs out of cards to draw.
- That turn becomes their last turn.
Winning the Game
After the game ends, both players add up the points on all the cards they collected. The player with the highest total score wins and becomes the true dragon hunter champion.
