South Korea had a challenging start on the opening day of the PUBG Mobile competition at the Esports Championships Asia 2026. The matches took place on April 25 at the Jinju Indoor Gymnasium in Gyeongsangnam-do, where teams from different countries gathered to compete for top positions.
At the end of Day 1, the South Korean national team finished in 6th place with a total of 46 points. While the result was not among the top three, the team still showed strong moments during the matches and remains in contention as the tournament continues.

Multiple Countries Competing In A Highly Competitive Lobby
The PUBG Mobile event at ECA 2026 includes teams from several nations across Asia. Countries such as Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, and Mongolia have sent their best squads to participate in the tournament.
In addition to national teams, squads from the Korea Esports League also joined the matches. These teams help complete the required number of participants in the game lobby, which must have 16 teams in each round.
Although these additional teams compete in the matches, their results do not affect the official standings of the championship. However, they still have the opportunity to earn prize money and gain valuable experience.
This format ensures balanced gameplay while maintaining fair competition among national teams.
KRX Dominated Day 1 With Strong Performance
One of the standout teams on the first day was KRX, which delivered an impressive performance across multiple rounds. The squad showed excellent teamwork, accurate shooting, and smart positioning throughout the matches.
The competition began with Daejeon Game PT winning the opening match on the Rondo map. In the second round, the South Korean national team secured their first victory of the day with nine eliminations, boosting their confidence early in the event.
KRX then took control of the competition by winning consecutive matches in the third and fourth rounds. Another team, DK, claimed victory in the fifth round before KRX returned to secure the final match of the day.
This strong performance placed KRX at the top of the Day 1 rankings.
Vietnam Leads Among National Teams After Opening Matches
Among the official national teams, Vietnam delivered one of the best performances on the first day. Their consistent gameplay helped them secure a position inside the top three.
Vietnam’s success shows how competitive the tournament has become. Teams from different regions have improved their skills and strategies, making every match unpredictable.
Japan and Thailand also performed well across various events in the championship. In the overall medal standings across all sports in the tournament, South Korea currently holds the third position behind those two nations.
This situation adds extra motivation for the team to improve their results in the upcoming rounds.
Six More Matches Will Decide The Next Standings
The competition is far from over, as several matches are still scheduled in the following stages. Six additional rounds will take place on the second day of the tournament.
These matches will play a major role in shaping the final leaderboard. A strong performance in the next rounds could help South Korea climb higher in the rankings.
