Fe Fi Fo Fum is a super fun and simple card game that’s perfect for parties, family nights, or even as a bar game with friends. It’s a hand-shedding game, which means players try to be the first to get rid of all their cards. It works best with 4 to 6 players, and it can get really funny and exciting with the chant that goes with it!
Let’s break down how to play Fe Fi Fo Fum in the easiest way possible.
What You Need to Start
You’ll need just two things:
- A standard 52-card deck (no Jokers)
- 4 to 6 players ready to have fun
Dealing the Cards
- Everyone picks one card from the deck.
- The person with the lowest card becomes the dealer.
- The dealer shuffles the whole deck well.
- Deal all the cards one at a time to each player.
Note: If there are 5 or 6 players, some people may get one more card than others. That’s totally fine!
How to Play Fe Fi Fo Fum
Step 1: Start the Game
- The player to the left of the dealer begins.
- They choose any card from their hand and place it in the middle.
- While doing this, they say: “Fe.”
Step 2: Continue the Sequence
- The next player who has the next card in the same suit plays it and says: “Fi.”
- Then the next card in the suit continues with: “Fo.”
- The fourth player says: “Fum.”
- The fifth and final card (if possible) ends the round with: “Giant’s Bum!” (Yes, that’s the fun part!)
Whoever plays “Giant’s Bum” gets to start the next round with any card they want. They begin again with “Fe.”
Special Rule: Playing a King
- If anyone plays a King, the chant and sequence reset immediately.
- The person who played the King chooses a new card and says “Fe” to start a fresh round.
What If No One Has the Next Card?
Sometimes, the next card in the sequence is already played. If that happens:
- The last person who played a card chooses a new card from their hand and starts a new sequence with “Fe.”
How to Win
The first player to get rid of all their cards wins the game.
You can also make it more fun by saying the last person with cards buys snacks or the next round of drinks!
