Fortnite is likely to experience a ban wave for players who sell their accounts. According to recent rumours, Epic Games could impose a ban wave that will ban the accounts of players that show up in different IP addresses in a specific time limit. Players usually sell their accounts to recover the rare skins that might never come back from the early days of the game.
The sellers demand high prices for this and gain significant financial benefits from charging extra as they invest a lot of their time and efforts to accumulate rare skins and high-level progress. New players also prefer buying pre-levelled accounts that allow them to skip the lengthy process of levelling up, and they can jump straight to the action mode and competitive play. Epic Games has never been in favour of this practice, and Fortnite has strict rules against buying, selling, or sharing accounts, and this ban wave could take things to the next level of risk.

According to recent updates, Epic Games will be banning a lot of accounts that jump around different IP addresses. However, this also means bad news for other innocent players who are just not in the same place all the time. Though the ban wave is not expected to hit these players, it will impose a high risk. However, there is no official confirmation on the same yet, and Epic Games has also clarified that they won’t be conducting ban waves based on solely IP addresses. They will focus on identifying and disabling accounts to protect their owners.
They clarified on a Twitter post, which was done by a blog account, stating, ” Some of you misunderstood what Adamo and I said. If you use a different device you won’t get banned, but if you use your friend’s you INCREASE the chance of your IP being flagged, which means (according to Adamo) that you will be in the next “inactive wave” and all your accounts will get banned.. Ofc you won’t get banned if you move, or play from other devices, I never said anything like that. If you have any questions comment down”
Replying to this post, Fortnite Status wrote,” Hey! That’s correct, anyone can play Fortnite from different devices. We always recommend logging out of a shared device to protect the account. And to clarify – we don’t do ban waves based on IP address. When we find accounts we believe are compromised, we’ll disable it to protect the owner and so the account can be recovered.”
The gaming community has expressed mixed feelings about the decision as some players who might travel a lot are concerned about their account safety while others believe unless you’re engaging in suspicious activities, your account should be safe and there is no need to worry. Whatever happens, we are here to keep you updated, so stay tuned.
