Master 3 Card Rummy Rules: Quick Game Guide

3 Card Rummy is a fast and fun card game. In this you have to make a set of cards of lower value than the dealer. The player who makes a lower hand than the dealer wins. This game is a version of rummy but is played in a slightly different style. Simple rules, quick rounds, and a little luck are all you need to win the game.

Game Setup

  • Each player is dealt 3 cards.
  • You place your bets with chips or cash.
  • Then the value of the cards is checked and compared with the dealer.
  • The player whose hand is smaller than the dealer’s wins.

Gameplay Explained

  1. First, the dealer collects the final bets from all players.
  2. A maximum of 7 players can play together in the game.
  3. Each player is dealt 3 cards face up. Dealer’s cards are face down.
  4. Now players count the value of their cards.
  5. If a special hand (like a pair or suited run) is formed, its value is 0.

Card Values:

  • Number cards = the face value
  • King, Queen, Jack = 10
  • Ace = 1
  • Special hands (pairs, suited runs) = 0

Fold or Play?

  • If you think your hand is strong, you place a Play bet.
  • If you don’t think so, you can fold (the previous bet goes away).
  • When all the players have made their decisions, the dealer shows his cards.
  • The one whose hand is smaller than the dealer wins the Play bet.

Bonus Bet

  • You can also place a bonus bet if you wish.
  • If your hand total is 12 or less, you receive a bonus payout.
  • But keep in mind that this bet has a higher house edge (3.46%), so the risk is higher as well.

Important Rules:

  • Ante bet wins if the player’s hand is lower than the dealer’s.
  • Bonus bet wins if the hand is 12 or lower, regardless of the dealer’s hand.

  • Lowest hand wins always remember this rule.
