The Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025 has finally come to an end, and Saudi Arabian powerhouse Team Falcons once again proved why they are one of the strongest names in the esports industry. The organization won the EWC 2025 Club Championship, taking home the biggest share of the prize pool $7 million from a total of $27 million.
Falcons’ Journey to Victory
The win did not come as a shock to many fans. Falcons had representatives across 22 of the 25 EWC titles, ranging from tactical shooters to traditional games like chess. Their presence across so many competitions gave them an edge, but this year’s race was much tighter compared to last year.
Surprisingly, Falcons had a slow start. Their first major victory only came on August 3, when they lifted the Overwatch Midseason Championship. From there, the team built momentum and kept pushing ahead, though not without challenges from rivals.
A Close Battle Until the End
Unlike last year’s easy domination, the 2025 Club Championship was far more competitive. In 2024, Falcons secured 5665 points, more than double of Team Liquid’s 2545 points. But in 2025, the story was different.
By August 21, the standings were neck-and-neck:

It came down to the final tournaments. Falcons’ key victory came in CS2, where they defeated G2 Esports and secured the extra 200 points needed to keep their lead safe.
Liquid’s Last Hope Fades
The last chance to dethrone Falcons rested with Team Liquid’s Alan “Nephew” Sun in the Street Fighter 6 tournament. Nephew defeated Hikaru Nakatani in a clean 3-0, raising hopes for Liquid fans. However, Japanese veteran Hajime “Tokido” Taniguchi ended Liquid’s dream by defeating Nephew 3-1 in the group stage.
With that, Falcons’ back-to-back championship win became official. Neither Liquid nor Vitality could catch up, sealing Falcons as the EWC 2025 Club Champions.
