For the last few months, a big part of the gaming community has been convinced that GTA 6 was heading toward yet another delay. Rockstar staying unusually quiet only made those fears grow louder online, with fans constantly questioning whether the game would actually make its planned 2026 release. Now, it sounds like those worries can finally calm down.
During a recent Take-Two earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick made it clear that GTA 6 is still scheduled to release on November 19, 2026. After multiple delays since the game’s original reveal back in 2023, this is probably the strongest confirmation fans have received so far that Rockstar is sticking to the current date.
Naturally, many players remained sceptical at first. GTA 6 has become one of the most anticipated entertainment releases ever, and every delay has only increased expectations even further. At this point, fans almost expect bad news whenever Rockstar goes silent for too long.
But Zelnick seemed confident when discussing the game’s timeline. He also dismissed recent rumours surrounding leaked pre-order dates that had been circulating online. One report claimed retailers like Best Buy were preparing to open pre-orders in mid-May, but according to Take-Two’s boss, that information was inaccurate.
Rockstar’s Real GTA 6 Marketing Push May Finally Be Close
Although fans still do not know exactly when pre-orders will begin, Zelnick gave a pretty strong hint about how Rockstar plans to handle things.
According to him, pre-orders will likely open around the same time Rockstar officially begins its full marketing campaign for the game. That matters because Take-Two has repeatedly mentioned that GTA 6’s major promotional push is expected to begin sometime during summer 2026.
That means the next few months could finally bring the flood of information fans have been waiting years for.
So far, Rockstar has mainly focused on building hype through cinematic trailers showing off Vice City, Jason, Lucia, and the atmosphere of the game’s world. What fans really want now is gameplay. They want to see how the game actually feels, how the mechanics work, and just how far Rockstar has pushed things technically after the success of Red Dead Redemption 2.
Many players believe the third trailer will finally deliver that first proper gameplay reveal. If that happens, it could easily become one of the biggest gaming moments of the decade.
There is also growing curiosity around GTA 6 Online. Rockstar has not officially shown anything related to the multiplayer side yet, and there is a chance the online mode will be revealed separately closer to launch. That would follow a similar strategy to Grand Theft Auto V, where GTA Online became its own massive phenomenon after release.
For now, the launch version of GTA 6 is only confirmed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Rockstar still has not announced a PC version officially, although most fans expect it to arrive eventually like previous Rockstar releases.
At the moment though, the biggest news is simple: after years of waiting, rumours, leaks, and delays, Take-Two says GTA 6 is finally staying exactly where it is supposed to be.
