New Pokemon Joining Unite
Three new playable Pokemon were revealed during the event, each bringing a unique role to the battlefield
1) Empoleon: The All-Rounder
After years of requests, Empoleon is finally coming to Aeos Island. The Emperor Pokemon is set to release on September 19, 2025, and will be classified as an All-Rounder.
Early previews highlight Empoleon’s mix of melee and ranged abilities. It can dive in and out of fights using dash attacks, giving it flexibility during battles. One of its notable moves is an AoE water zone, which continuously damages enemies inside its range similar to Armarouge’s Fire Spin.
This mix of range and mobility makes Empoleon a strong option for players who like versatile characters that balance offense and survivability.
2) Dhelmise: The Anchor of Battle
The second reveal was Dhelmise, the spectral anchor Pokemon. It has also been given the role of an All-Rounder, with gameplay showcasing its massive anchor as both a weapon and a tool for control.
Its Unite Move allows it to pull opponents in and tether them, disrupting enemy formations. This skill makes Dhelmise a strategic threat, as it can drag key Attackers or Supporters out of position, opening up opportunities for its team to strike.
This unique mechanic could change how team fights play out, especially in competitive matches where positioning is everything.
3) Vaporeon: The New Defender
Finally, fans were thrilled to see Vaporeon officially confirmed. This long-awaited addition takes on the role of a Defender, joining Umbreon as one of the only Eeveelutions to fill this role.
Footage shows Vaporeon using a dash attack to bounce off enemies, followed by a Unite Move that lets it leap across the battlefield. Unlike traditional defenders, which rely on tanking damage and shielding teammates, Vaporeon combines mobility with frontline protection, offering new tactical options.
This fresh take on the Defender role may give teams more dynamic strategies during matches.
Major Map Update: Groudon Replaces Rayquaza
Alongside the new roster, one of the biggest announcements was the introduction of Groudon as the central boss in Theia Sky Ruins. Starting September 4, 2025, Groudon will officially replace Rayquaza, marking the first significant map change since the game’s early days.
Defeating Groudon will reward players with two major buffs:
- Attack Boost: Increases offensive power.
- Goal-Scoring Speed Increase: Makes scoring goals faster.
Additionally, if a buffed player defeats an opponent, the effect can transfer to the opponent, creating new tactical opportunities. This mechanic encourages aggressive play and may reshape competitive strategies in upcoming tournaments.
