The PUBG Mobile 4.2 update is now live from January 7, 2026, and it brings a huge amount of fresh content for players. From new themed modes to weapon balance changes and system upgrades, this update focuses on both fun and smoother gameplay.
Players who update the game will also receive free rewards directly in their in-game mail, including BP, AG, vouchers, and a special themed music track.
Free Rewards for Updating to PUBG Mobile 4.2
After installing the update, players will receive the following rewards via in-game mail:
- Themed Music Track “Whisper” x1
- V4.2 Perk Voucher x20
- BP x1000
- AG x100
These rewards are available for a limited time, so updating early is a good idea.
Primewood Genesis Themed Mode
The biggest highlight of the 4.2 update is the Primewood Genesis mode. This mode introduces a nature-based corruption theme across several locations on Erangel.
The themed areas include Hospital, Yasnaya Polyana, Pochinki, Mylta, and Sosnovka Military Base. Players will notice living plants, special effects, and unique gameplay elements across these zones.
A server-wide event is also part of this mode, where players can unlock special rewards like the Bramblewood Scorpion vehicle and Targeting Vines.
The popular Skyhigh Spectacle mode is also confirmed to return in early February.
Classic Mode Weapon Changes
Firearm Damage Buffs
Some 7.62mm weapons now deal slightly more damage:
- AKM: 48 to 50
- ACE32: 45 to 47
- M762: 46 to 48
- Honey Badger: 43 to 45
- Mk47: 48 to 50
- Groza: 48 to 49
Shotgun Adjustments
Shotguns received small damage nerfs and wider pellet spread for better balance:
- S686: 24 to 23
- S1897: 24 to 23
- S12K: 22 to 21
- M1014: 24 to 23
- DBS: 24 to 23
- NS2000: 26 to 25
Weapon Spawn Changes
DBS is now available as ground loot on Livik.
SCAR-L has been added to Sanhok and Vikendi.
DP-28 is now available on Sanhok, Miramar, Karakin, and Vikendi.
New Cooperative Climbing Feature
Players can now help teammates climb obstacles by boosting or pulling them up. This adds more team-based movement options during fights and rotations.

World of Wonder Improvements
The World of Wonder mode has received major creator-focused upgrades.
AI tools now allow animation creation using uploaded videos and text-based object generation. Players can also unlock talent-tree-style features, improved UI tools, floating windows, and edit history support.
PvE enemies can now use skills like throwing and building through command blocks, making custom maps more advanced.
Metro Royale Updates
Metro Royale Season Duration: January 8, 2026 to March 10, 2026
New additions include the Glacix Arbiter melee weapon, new sellable items, vine crates with high-value loot, a mutated plant boss, and new crate spawns in Frontline Confrontation.
Graphics and Performance Improvements
- Smooth Graphics now support 90 FPS and 120 FPS
- HD and HDR Graphics support 90 FPS
- Ultra HDR now supports 60 FPS
Graphics have also been optimized for smoother gameplay in power-saving mode.
System and Arena Updates
- A new gyroscope option is available for throwables.
- Matchmaking now shows real-time progress in some modes.
- Rank differences in premade teams will affect matchmaking balance.
Arena mode gets a new ranked season from January 27 to February 24, 2026, with draw results now possible and improved broadcast support for multi-kill sniper shots.
