Tutorial

You should therefore visit the tutorial area to learn the fundamentals of what each button does or enroll in the advanced classes to sharpen your abilities with newer features, depending on whether you are a KoF master or an amateur in both cases. The objective is to link the combo by pressing the appropriate button without overdoing it. And decipher all the franchise jargon, such as Climax, super cancelling, and Max Mode.

3 vs 3: Pick Carefully

KoF is primarily a 3 vs 3 team game. To play in the major leagues, you’ll need to master not just one character but three. The three-person team is not allowed to tag in their chosen characters; instead, you must play them in order. This means that the victor of each fight stays until the team has used up all of its combatants. The player can choose one of the game’s pre-made teams or create their own.

Mission Mode

Head to mission mode when the team has been chosen to become familiar with your character’s combos. You can practise the fundamental combinations of each character in mission mode, with a focus on mastering the fight’s flow and how to link together the different moves at your disposal.

Combat System

The following are all the techniques and systems a player has at their disposal for combining combos, using special moves to create a more potent move set, and effectively countering an opponent:

  • Regular Movement

Light kick and punch, strong kick and punch. These are the standard single-button inputs.

  • Blow Back

A Blow Back is performed by simultaneously pressing a powerful punch and heavy kick. When completed while still on the ground, the opponent will be hurled to the edge of the screen and stunned, giving the player the opportunity to attack again.

Special Moves

Each character can perform a special move while utilising a combination of a directional button and other ordinary move buttons, with variations employing other move buttons. The pause menu contains a list of special manoeuvres and instructions on how to use them.

Selecting a Team

The selection of who enters the fight first and last must be made once you are familiar with the characters on your squad. To become familiar with each character, it is advised that you cycle between them again. The decision you make in this situation requires great strategic thought. Either you want your best fighter to go first so they can start the team off strong, or you want them to be the anchor if all else fails.

Knowing each character’s strengths and workings is what matters most in this situation, therefore practise your advanced methods in the instructional mode and mission mode before entering the harsh online environment.
