Rockstar Games has once again delayed the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), moving it from May 26, 2026, to November 19, 2026. The news came as a major disappointment for millions of fans around the world who have been waiting for this game for more than a decade.
Originally, the game’s May release had players expecting new promotional content, including a third trailer around this time (November 2025). But with the six-month delay, it’s safe to say that Rockstar’s marketing timeline has changed completely and fans may now have to wait much longer for the next big reveal.
Why the GTA 6 Delay Affects the Trailer Schedule
Rockstar Games has always followed a very structured approach when promoting its major titles. Every game from GTA 5 to Red Dead Redemption 2 has gone through a similar marketing cycle. The company usually drops its third trailer about 4–6 months before the official release, giving players one last look at the story, world, and gameplay before launch.
If Rockstar continues this tradition, then the GTA 6 third trailer won’t appear anytime soon.
Looking Back at Rockstar’s Past Marketing Patterns
The best way to predict Rockstar’s marketing timeline for GTA 6 is to look at how it handled previous titles.
- Grand Theft Auto 5:
The third trailer for GTA 5 was released on April 30, 2013, just under five months before the game’s launch on September 17, 2013. That trailer introduced the three main characters Michael, Franklin, and Trevor and showcased the interconnected storyline that defined the game. - Red Dead Redemption 2:
Rockstar followed a similar schedule for RDR2. The third trailer arrived on May 2, 2018, while the game was released on October 26, 2018 again, about five and a half months apart. This trailer focused on Arthur Morgan’s story and the fall of the Van der Linde gang, setting the tone for the entire experience.
From both cases, it’s clear that Rockstar prefers releasing its final trailers roughly half a year before launch.
When Can We Expect GTA 6’s Third Trailer?
Given the new release date November 19, 2026 the third trailer for GTA 6 will likely arrive around May 2026.
This timeline makes perfect sense when you consider how Rockstar builds momentum:
- The first trailer (released in December 2023) officially confirmed the game.
- The second trailer (expected in 2025) could focus on gameplay or expanded world details.
- The third trailer, traditionally the final one, will probably dive deep into the story of Jason and Lucia, the dual protagonists of the game.
If Rockstar follows its proven formula, the May 2026 trailer will give fans the final teaser before pre-orders and full marketing begin over the summer.
